Who can join BAR?

Anyone! Beta Alpha Rho is welcoming to anyone in the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor student body. We are a co-ed fraternity, meaning all gender identities have a place in our organization. We also accept all years, so whether you’re a freshman or a second-semester junior, come check us out. Additionally, no major or area of study is preferred over another!

Why should I join BAR?

BAR offers its members opportunities to navigate the law and public service sectors while making lifelong friends and professional connections. Our alumni network is strong with alums pursuing different career opportunities from attending T-14 law schools to working for Fortune 500 companies.

How much is the time commitment?

BAR is meant to fit your schedule! The semester that you rush will be a bigger time commitment, as our new members must learn about our fraternity through new member development training. Once you are an initiated member of our fraternity, there is only one required meeting per week. However, we typically offer 3-4 events per week that one can choose to attend, which members often do.

What sets BAR apart from other pre-law fraternities?

First, BAR is smaller than other pre-law fraternities with about 60-100 members per year, which allows our members to form those social connections with everyone in the organization. Second, BAR offers intensive professional development from our small groups training to our annual law school trip to Chicago. Third, we are the only professional fraternity on campus with a focus on public service. Lastly, BAR’s culture is an extremely welcoming one during rush and beyond. We want everyone to feel comfortable at our events regardless of if they are a member of our organization or not.
