President’s Welcome:
On behalf of Beta Alpha Rho Pre-Law and Public Service Fraternity at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, I welcome you to our fraternity’s official website.
Beta Alpha Rho at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor is a community of over 70 members dedicated to public service, excellence in the law, and the development of an enriching community of mutual support. Beta Alpha Rho’s greatest asset is its community. Through the connections we form with one another, we are able to provide high quality professional development programming and host events that emphasize our commitment to our three pillars.
Our three pillars are professionalism, philanthropy, and community. From speaker panels on Environmental Justice to ice skating outings, Beta Alpha Rho offers every member opportunities for personal and professional development in a fun and supportive environment.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion is a focus of everything that we do. Each semester we have Diversity in Law and Public Service Panels, and a fraternity-wide discussion about how we may better implement DEI in our work, both as individuals and members of BAR. It is our first priority that every member and potential member feels welcomed and included within our community.
I joined BAR during my first semester of college, struggling to find footing and community while attending college entirely virtually. Even over Zoom, BAR quickly became my home at UM. I am honored to call every BAR member a friend and a greatly respected colleague. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into this professional community and group of friends.

Professionalism
Professional development is the main component of our fraternity. Everyone in our fraternity receives individualized professional development from new members to graduating seniors. We offer a variety of professional development events including speakers, workshops, office hours, study tables, and more!
Detroit Partnership Day
Philanthropy
BAR emphasizes service to our members and is always looking at ways to give back to our local community. We participate in many different types of philanthropy events, such as fundraisers, 5ks, DP Day, blanket making, card making, and more!
Cider Mill Trip
Community
We pride ourselves on creating a family-like atmosphere in our fraternity by fostering close relationships. BAR has many different types of social events, including tailgates, potluck dinners, and more. Also, every new member is assigned a mentor who guides their transition into the fraternity.
